Changing Teachers

Today we had a mass in the morning farewelling Miss Leaupepe because she had another work at the National Library. She was a wonderful and great teacher and I don't want her to leave our school.

On Monday the 5th we are going to have another teacher name Mr Slade. I know that he is going to be a wonderful teacher just like Miss Leaupepe.

Term Two Reflection

My highlight for this whole term was learning about how Christians come to know God through worship. I enjoyed learning about this because I really like learning different stuff about God or Jesus so that I know more about God and his son. One of my best highlight that I really enjoyed doing was training with the year seven netball team. I enjoyed training with the year seven team because I like trying different kinds of sport.

For this whole term, it seemed like nothing was boring to me it was all fun and exciting.

I am looking forward to next term because we having two kiwi sports in the term and they are rugby league and badminton. I am looking forward to that because, like I said I like to try different kinds of sport.

Jesus

Let me introduce to you, my friend Jesus. Jesus is a really helpful man and a kind man. He helps people that needs help. He also performed miracles. Jesus's love never fails on us no matter what we do that is not right. He heals people that are sick and other kinds of people. Jesus loves everyone of us also don't forget that he always forgives us no matter what we do that hurts his heart. The Father's son is a respectful man and he will never turn away from us.

Jesus is a humble man and a loving man. Like when we do something that is really bad he never gives up loving us. The son of God is a faithful man and a caring man. He is the only one that shows all the virtues in his life and he never forgets them, like we do. He cares for us and he always stands up for us like our mum and dad would.

To me, Jesus is my rock because when I am in a hard time he can help me to become peaceful.

The big bad wolf

Beware! The Big Bad Wolf has been spotted near St Pius X Catholic School! He has blood soaked tallons and razor sharp fangs that can only take one bite and you are done for the rest of your life. He can even tower over you and you will run away just like that. Remember that he is nimble and can be right beside you right away. He is a horrible and nasty wolf. His face is ugly and it is even covered with coarse fur. He his big two evil eyes and one nasty big mouth. He is so strong that went he gets you and you try to run away, trust me that won’t happen. He will open his mouth with blood soaked fangs and eat you up in one whole bite. The big bad wolf is a meat eater so that means when he sees people he sneak around their back and open his horrible mouth and eat them up. When you see the big bad wolf don’t try to be nice because he is mean and ruthless and he is also sneaky.

I am thankful for food that I eat everyday.

I can show how to be thankful for coming to school by working hard and finishing my work in time. Also by giving some of my clothes to my family at Tonga or people that I know.

I can show that I am thankful by saying thank you to my mum and dad buying food for me and my brothers to eat.

Alex Fala's Visit

On Thursday 20th of June we had a visitor that came over to talk about how he became successful and what we can do when we grow up to be successful.

His name is Alex Fala and he is half Samoan. He lived in Wellington when he was still a young boy with his family. When he was still at primary school his mum and dad split up. As the years went on Alex was forced to go to Auckland to find a job and also go to university. After a few years he found a job that he really liked. At Alex’s job he gets to travel to lots of country and get to study there. One of Alex's favorite country is Italy because he thinks it is really amazing.

After that Alex told us some keys how to become successful. First you have to study hard and say no to your mates if they want you to do some bad. Next you have to concentrate on what you are studying about and finish work in time.

Next when Alex finished talking to us we started to ask him some questions. Like what is your favorite thing, who inspired you and a whole lot of other things.

At the end we had a photo together with Alex and then we had to go home.

Jonny Wartman Visit

Make your own slideshow at Animoto.

On Tuesday 18th of June we had a visitor that came in to room six. He came to talk about how he became a graffiti artist.

His name is Jonny Wartman and he was raised in Christchurch. His favorite thing that he liked to do when he was young was drawing pictures. As Jonny grew older he wanted to be a graffiti artist.

After that he told us some of his stories like how he became a graffiti artist and who inspires him also what was his favorite thing. One of his favorite countries is New Zealand because he likes  travelling around the world. Not like the other country’s if you want to travel somewhere you can just drive there. When he finished talking we asked some questions about him.

Next up we all went outside and he showed us some of his graffiti art. Before he even started he said to us “what kind of picture do you guys want me to draw”. So we have to come up with something that we all agree with. The class all agreed that he should draw a sunrise. Then he asked us if we can move back because the spray can is too strong. Next up he explained to us about the spray can like what is in it and how can you use it and how many second or minute does it takes to dry up also lots of other things. When he finished explaining it to us he started to draw the picture. First he started off with the sky and then the clouds. After that he drew the beach then the sand and the flowers and all the other things that he can think off. When he was almost finished we all clapped but he said “No it’s not finished yet” so we had to stop clapping. A few minutes later room seven was coming out of their classroom but some of them just stay and watch from the window. When he finally finish we all clapped and I can hear people saying “Jack it’s cool man I want to be like him”.  After that room seven left into their classroom and carried on with their work while room six was taking photo with Jonny. When we came back to the class it was time to go home so we have to get out bags and go home.

Maths Strategy

This week the strategy I have learned is place vlaue and compensation.
Here is one of my equation that I haven't worked out (8x29=).
Let's use place value to work this stategy out and then we’ll use compensation.
First you times 8 to a tidy number in the stategy which is 20 then you plus 8 times 9. After that you add them all together and you will get the answer and the answer is 232. Here do it like this.
(8x20=160)+(8x9=72) then add them all together and the answer is 232.

Next strategy we can use is competsation.
First you times 8 to a tidy number which is 30. Then take away 8 times 1. When you finish you add them up and the answer is there.
Here like this.
8x30=240 take away 8x1=232

Catholic School Day

Today is the celebration of Catholic school day. We had invited Saint Josephs from Orakei over to have a whole school mass and to celebrate Catholic school day together.

At 11:00 we went to mass and St Joseph was lining up to go to mass too. Also their priest came to mass with Father Ioane, he was his helper for the mass.

After mass we had lunch together with the Saint Joseph kids. We got to take photos with them and also meet them. I had a friend from St Josephs and her name is Nia and she is year five and she is from Tonga. We went and played at the field with some other kids from her school. Then I started asking her questions like "how many kids to you have at your school?" I found out that they only have one hundred and something kids.

After that we went to the hall for singing concert. We had to take turns at singing. They sang Count On Me by Bruno Mars. Then it was room seven's turn they sang Let It Go. After all our performances, Saint Joseph had to go back because their bus was waiting. I waved to Nia and she waved back with a big smile on her face.

Mothers day writing

My mum is from Hasini and she has two brothers and three sisters. Shes got black and brown short hair. She also is a smart and a helpful lady. My mum is kind and a fair lady. In my family she is like the second shortest out of me my brothers and my dad.

Next up my mum likes eating fish. Also watching soccer and the rugby world cup.She doesn’t like eating K.F.C or eating sweet things and junk food.

My mum plaits my hair for school sometimes. She also looks after me when I’m sick and gives me things I need that are important. Next she washes my clothes, cleans my room and tells me what is wrong and right. She also help me with anything when I need her help.

I love my mum because she is the one that is always there for me when I need her.

Pictogram

We are learning about statistical literacy. This means reading and writing about statistics. We learned about pictograms. One of the most important things to look for is the key. The key is important because it tells you clues. Above is an example of a pictogram:

Goldilocks and the three bears

I believe that Goldilocks is a bad little girl.

Firstly, she broke into the bear’s house. Also she didn't own the house and she didn't have the right to do this. She didn't have permission to go inside the house too. How would you feel if someone broke into your house?

Secondly, she used things without asking and broke things. She can’t afford to pay for all these things that she broke because she is just a little girl. Also she doesn't own all these things in the house too.

Thirdly, she left when the bears came home.
It was rude for her to leave because she didn't say sorry to the bears family. Next she didn't wait to ask for forgiveness and to tell them it was her that broke into their house.

I think that Goldilocks should go to jail because she knows what did was bad but she just left without letting the bear’s family know that it was her that broke into their house.

I believe that Goldilocks should go to jail because what she has done is wrong.
