My reflection

I have enjoyed my journey throughout St Pius. Leaving my friends and family at school is difficult, but I guess its time to move on. Learning new things makes me want to learn more and more. I will miss everyone at school and the teachers as well.

Farewell video

This is a farewell video of my classmates and I as we are leaving St Pius this year. I have enjoyed my journey at St Pius and so as everyone else.

Cultural Festival

Sailing

On Thursday 12th of November we had an exciting event rolling our way. As a school activity we had to go sailing. It was part of the year eight and seven activity week. I was really excited about it, since it was my first time experiencing sailing. I thought I was the only one who haven’t been sailing before, but ninety nine percent of the class haven’t been to sailing. We only had one person in our class that had done sailing, he was a year seven student.
When we arrived at Kohimarama beach we saw a young man waiting for us. He was our instructor and he gave us a few instruction of how to set up a sailing boat. We had to partner up and try to set up our boat, following the instructions he showed us. After that we had to push our boats to the shore. We waited there because our instructor (Reuben) had a few questions that he needed to ask us. We had to try and feel where the wind was coming from. It was a bit complicated but we managed to get the right answer. After that we began to push our boats into the ocean and untied it from the trailer. My partner went first and gosh he was good. When it was my turn I felt scared. I didn’t even want to go but I knew I had to try. I was fearing the fact that I’ll fall off the boat. The wind was blowing strongly and my nerves were getting higher then usual.  The boat went faster and faster I really enjoyed the ride. “It’s not that bad” I said to myself. Until when my boat almost flipped over. I was very shocked, I thought I was going to drown. Then light brought me back, I managed to get myself up and move to the other side of the boat.

We had a few exchanging turns and then we had to finish up. We got changed into warm dry clothes and then ate our lunch. While we were eating our lunch our instructor was giving out certificates. We all had a certificate and said thank you to him before leaving. I learned a lot about sailing. My favourite part was controlling the boat by using the steering. I thought sailing would be boring. Surprisingly I really enjoyed sailing and so as everyone else. We had such a fun and exhausting day.

Touch

Today we had a session of Touch. The sun was shining brightly so it was a great day for a game. We all got geared up and everyone was excited. These photo's are my favorite. The photo above is when we were playing defending and attacking. I was the defender and the other person was the attacker. It was such an exhausting game, especially when the heat of the sun was burning us. The photo below was when we were practicing how to plant the ball. Our instructors, instructions were confusing for the girls because some of us didn't know what she was talking about. She was using touch language and only the boys understood her. Touch isn't as easy as it looks, playing touch you have to be fast at moving, same time thinking quickly. After the games we played we all headed back to class breathlessly. I am really looking forward for the next session of Touch.

Math Test

This morning we had PAT math test. I wasn't looking forward for the test. Although we had practiced a lot of mathematical problems and strategy.  I didn't want to do the test because I knew I got a low mark, the first time we got tested. The time was all I had in mind. I wanted to beat my mark from last time.Once the time was up, I felt relief. I was very proud of my self because I did the test with a positive attitude and gave it all I had. I had a really strong feeling that I did great in the test. I also hoped that I will have some improvement.

Kiwi Sport

Early this morning we had to get organized for our kiwi sport. This term for kiwi sport we had touch. In this picture it shows that we were listening to our instructor. We were given instructions of how to play a game. The game was testing our defending and thinking. When we first started it was a bit complicated. Touch seems to be an easy game but when you actually play it, you have a lot to do. When you play touch you have to think, defend and make choices all at the same time. We did a few other activities as well. The games we played taught us a lot of how to defend and pass. Everyone enjoyed playing touch and we all had fun.

Holiday Recount

LEARN: To be able to share my experience about my Holiday.

I had a really enjoyable holiday. I also did a lot of babysitting, which I found fun.

During the holidays I went shopping with my cousin and my sister -in law. Shopping is one of my favourite doings. I only like going shopping to buy me shoes and jeans. My cousin is a really big fan of shopping, she goes mad every time we go Sylvia Park. Especially when  it goes to dresses and tops. My sister is not really into girly stuff such as crop tops, shorts, make up etc which is more like me. Going shopping with my sister brought light to my day. I enjoyed it because I got to know her better. I also learned what she likes and what she doesn’t like. I learned a lot about my sister just as much as she learned about me. To my surprise we have a few things in common. After our shopping we headed for a feast. The feast was more of a social talking rather than talking about how well our day has been. I didn’t really mind it but laughter was brought to the table when my cousin cracks a joke. Our day out was more like a reunion. I didn’t really care about shopping, I just wanted to get to know my sister more. I really enjoyed the day out.

Although I did mind my fifteen year old cousins silly comments and behaviour towards me. She didn’t realized that what she does affects others as well. I think that was the only down fall for the day, other than that I found it really enjoyable. I just couldn’t understand how immature my cousin was. The worse thing is that she was older than me and I’m more mature than her.

Finally we finished eating and we found it a bit difficult to walk back to the car, because we were so full. Well me and my sister got to the car quick but when we turn back my cousin was nowhere to be seen. So I ran back to the place where we were eating and there’s my cousin trying to walk with her stomach sticking out. I burst into laugh just to get back at her for her silly comments. I know it was a bit mean of me to do, but I did help her at the end. Once we were all in the car, my sister started driving and we were on our way home. The first thing I did when I got home was lay in my bed. I laid in my bed for a few whiles and then my vision goes pitch black because I was deadly asleep. I had no idea what happened next, all I remembered was waking up the next morning feeling confused.

I had such a wonderful holiday with my family. Time is too fast to be mad or angry at someone.

Welcome to my learning Journey

Grandparents Mass :)

Today was such a busy and wonderful day. In the morning we had our Grandparents mass and the blessing of our Grandparents. The mass was so delightful and it was a good start for everyone's morning. After mass we had our speech competition, which made me nervous. I was one of the competitors, and that was scaring the world out of me. I was so shy to perform in front of everyone but when I saw my mother I felt a bit of light in me. I had such a happy and scary  day.

Warrior's Visit

On Wednesday morning we had a special visit from the Warriors. We had two players who came along in the visit and they were Ken Maumalo and David Bhana. To start of the day we had to sing our school prayer. Afterwards David and Ken introduced themselves to everyone. Following on we got a chance to play a few games with them. The game was similar to “who am I”. When the game finally finished, some of the boys were brought up to play a little rugby game with Ken and David. When all the activities were done we then got a chance to ask them questions. Some of the questions were about their appearances and some were about their personal lives. It was a fun and exciting morning. They brought laughter and enjoyment to start off with the day. Before our visitor's left we took a few photographs with them.

How Maui slowed the sun

Kia ora koutou
This week for Maori week our group decided to read the story of How Maui slowed the sun. Maui was tired of having to rush his chores and gather food before sunset. He set a trap for the sun and beaten the sun up and told him to travel slowly across the sky. From that day until today the sun still travel's slowly across the sun. This story sounded a bit funny to me because according to the scientist the sun doesn't move the earth moves.

Netball

On Tuesday 21st of July we had a netball game against Sylvia Park.

Once I arrived to the netball court I saw my team waiting with my teacher. Everyone seemed confident and looked proud that we’re representing our school. Meanwhile our coach arrived and we began to do some warm up just before the game starts. “Ding” the bell rang, “time for us to shine” I said. I felt nervous but I couldn’t let my team see that because I needed them to play with courage . I had a lot of faith in myself and in them that we can win this as a team. As the game goes on I can see that some of the girls were losing their attitude. From time to time I start to see that my team was falling apart. They were playing with anger because we were losing points. At the end of the game most of the girls were disappointed because we lost. I didn’t let that pull us back. I knew I had to say something before I lose my team. I told them that we played well even though we lost but at least we gave it all we had. I started to say a few more words to them and they slowly began to calm down. Everyone of them were confused that we lost because we came a long way winning and we had our hopes to win this last game. Sadly we didn’t win but I guess we all took this game as a lesson for next time.

Holiday Recount

The last day of school I had been really busy at the hospital which is why I didn’t make it to school.

Everyone's waiting patiently but I wasn’t, I was everywhere because I couldn’t keep my excitement to myself. I think some of my family member were a bit annoyed of my reaction towards the good news they were spreading. I was totally filled with joy and couldn’t even think about anything else. Waiting  patiently was too long for me to hold and I was making a big fuss about it.

Finally the moment had come. My little nephew had finally arrive into the world. We all entered the room and saw him lying down on his mothers chest. He was a little greedy boy because his arrival had stolen everyone's heart from the very beginning. Everyone got a chance to hold him, I was the first to actually say welcome to the world “Francis”. He’s a really cute, tiny little boy. No words can explain how over the moon I was when he arrived.

Later on that day we headed home and that whole afternoon I spent holding him and giving him a nice warm cuddle. He is irreplaceable, in my family’s heart that is where he’ll always be. Last year on my mother’s birthday she wished to have a grandchild on her 40th birthday. She was filled with smiles when her wish had been granted. I spend my whole holiday babysitting my little nephew.

All the time waiting patiently in the hospital was worth it. No words can describe how excited we all were on that day. I wish Francis a happy and peaceful life. I am really looking forward for his future.

Lectio Divina

Today I have learnt Lectio Divina. Lectio Divina is a type of traditional prayer that has a prayerful reading. This is my prayer during Lectio Divina.

Dear almighty God, you wanted us to forgive one another like you had forgiven us. At this time of silence I ask you to give me the strength to be able to forgive those around me. Amen

I think Lectio Divina is a really helpful prayer. It had taught me a different way to pray.

The sky unlocked wide open.

Image result for jesus getting baptized

I am reporting from River Jordan this afternoon where an amazing incident had just happened. When a man named Jesus is about to be baptized by John the Baptist, son of Elizabeth and Zechariah. Out of no where the sky unlocked wide open, a strange voice rumbled & a dove flew down. This could be the most amazing and scariest thing that has happened in History. Everyone is in panic and anxious to see what is about to happen. According to a friend of Jesus this event got him so shocked.

Mother's day writing

If my mum didn't enter my life I have no idea what I’d be doing or how I’ll be behaving right now.

My mother is a really beautiful women. She has short blond and black hair with light brown eyes. Her eyes are as beautiful as a flower. She’s at average height even though most of my brothers are taller than her. She’s a funny and loving lady. I appreciate my mum the way she is and also very thankful that she's still around me. My mother is a really good cooker she’s always willing to prepare the meal for us. Even though if its late at night she still wants us to stay up and taste her cooking. Her cooking is so delicacies that leaves us wanting more. She’s always a really good listener. At home my mother is my best friend my sister and also my mother. The struggle of me having no sister I guess my mother is the only one I can share everything with. She tries her best to help me with my problems and always make me laugh with her jokes.

My mother has a lot of talent and each talent is shared among my siblings and I. She’s very blessed with a lovely voice that I wished I had. My mum is a really active and a hard working women. My mother tries her best to have time for my siblings and I when we need her. She is a really helpful mother. She helps us when she knows something big is coming up at school. When we are upset about something she’ll never leave our side until we feel better. When we are losing faith my mum zooms in like a rocket and makes us believe in ourselves in whatever we do. She may have punished us when we do wrong, but my brothers and I all know that it's for our own good. Even though the punishes hurts but we know that she wants us to be lead in the right path. She punishes us with love not with hatred.
My mum are my brothers one and only Queen. Without doubt my mother had stolen all my heart. She means every single piece to me, no actually she means the world to me. I love my mother in many different ways. I don’t know how to thank her enough for everything she’d done for me. Waking up early in the morning while it’s still freezing cold just to make our lunch is a really hard job. I know it’s a hard job but my mother hides her pain away from us and make things look fine. My siblings and I don’t really enjoy our day when our mother is feeling down. Instead of her showing us her pain she smiles it off and act all happy. But deep inside us we know that there is something wrong. I am very thankful that my mother is still apart of my life.

Anzac Celebration

Letter to Aurora,Valenisia,Joshua,Folauhola.

Dear friends
This morning we had an wonderful mass celebrating Anzac. We dedicated this mass to those who lost their lives during world war one. After church we all gathered around the grotto. It was unusual for us to gathered around the grotto in an event like this. But we gathered in there because Anzac finally reached its hundredth year of anniversary.

In the grotto there were white crosses. The crosses reminds us of those who fought for New Zealand and lost their lives. We had some people from each class read a few words. Then we all read the poem and sang the National Anthem. We sang nicely and beautiful. From the mass upto the end everything was amazing. We all participated nicely and managed to do it with no fuss.

Yours sincerely.

Hokulea Event

image15.jpeg
This is when we were all getting ready to sing the haka. It was a really hot day. Everyone that walked was really exhausted because it wasn’t a good weather to walk. While we were waiting to sing everyone at the back of me were moving around trying to get air. I felt annoyed with them but I kept still.

Once the canoe came towards us everyone started singing their hearts out. Sadly no one in our school was singing. Everyone was just standing quietly while the other schools were singing. I felt ashamed because we had a lot of hard practices and yet no one was singing. Other than that, the other schools sang really good. They all sounded great when their voices came as one. The people in the front did really great at the haka. Honestly that was my favourite part when they were doing the haka while the rest were singing. In this part of the event I really enjoyed the singing. It was a really great welcoming.

Identifying different type of sentences

During the last few weeks my mum had a family reunion that my family all attend. It was extremely exciting. First I found it awkward because kids wouldn't identifying different type of sentences stop staring at me. Also because I barely know anyone there. Everyone was getting on my nerves, but that’s what family reunion is all about getting to know your family members better.

In writing I've been identifying the different types of sentences . They are COMPOUND, COMPLEX and SIMPLE. In this paragraph the red high lighted sentence is my simple sentence. Then the yellow high lighted sentence is my compound sentence. I am still learning how to make my sentences complex.

Titles of Jesus

These are the different titles of Jesus and this is what I've been working on during R.E.

Next time my goal is to be more specific with what I talk about because I feel I didn't really add detail’s to my writing.
I really think I  did well in my writing test because I used vocabulary and I used interesting words.

I need to work on my fractions and decimals because I am not confidence.
I don’t think I did well in my math’s test because most my answers I guessed.
Reading
Next time I need to take my time to think and be positive with what I pick.
I did well in my reading because I understand what I was reading about.

I need to take my time and think positively with my questions and not rush it.
I feel that I didn't do well in my star test because I rushed it before the time’s up.
