My name is Jane and I am from Saint Pius X School in room three.

Thank very much for the new books and I really enjoy reading them all.

My favourite book was called ‘Green Princess saves the day’. That was my favourite book because it tells me how she become a princess and how she saved the day, also other interesting things about her too.

Netbook Reflection

In the beginning of the year room three had these little netbooks and each one of us had our own one. Some of us used our brother’s or sister’s netbook from the previous year. When I first got my netbook I was so scared that I might break it. We were all happy to use our netbooks but the only thing we were unsure of was how to use it.

As the year went on we all knew how to use a netbook. Also it helped us with our work online. When you use a netbook your hands don’t hurt that much and it is easier to use a netbook instead of a book.

In room three when you have a netbook you always have to remember to charge your netbook, otherwise it will run out of battery.

In 2013 I am looking forward to moving up a level in maths. Also I will try to be at, not below on my national standards. If I try really hard I will get to above.

Helping the hungry

Helping the Hungry

1) What is your foundation? My foundation is Auckland City Mission.✔

2) Who do they help? Auckland City Mission helps the people who are hungry and poor people who have no food to eat.✔

4) How do they help?
In every Christmas the Auckland City Mission give clothes to other people who have no clothes. ✔

5) How do they raise their money?Auckland City Mission raises money by Fundraising and donations.✔

The Lego story

Once upon a time there was an old man named Oli and he had four son and his wife. Oli started a toy shop with his son Godfrey in 1932 after Olis wife died. The toy shop was called Lego and they made toys out of woods. The toy shop was a family business.

The main characters were Olis four son and his wife and Oli too. Oli and Godfrey loved to make toys for the kids and also so they could have money for their family. One windy night there was an fire in the toy shop and everything burnt down.


After the fire Oli had to build a new toy shop which is called Lego. Oli and Godfrey run the family business together. Soon Oli died and Godfrey had to run the business by himself.

There was another fire in the toy shop so Godfrey had to rebuild Lego. After they built Lego Godfrey thought that he needed an airport also a bigger place to build Lego land. Lego land was all built and they are still going today.

LIfe Education Van

This is a picture of me and Harold from the life Education van.
To day room three went to the life Education van where Harold was. We learnt about our body's also what food we should eat most and where it's come from. The last thing we learnt about was the three food sources.

Manaiakalani Film Festival

On a lovely day Saint Pius X school went to Sylvia Park to the Manaiakalani Film Festival. There were all kinds of different schools there and they all had different movies too.
When we got there we lined up outside ready to go inside. After that we went inside and all the schools had to sit down. Room three was one of the classes that sat at the back of the theatre.

After that we began with Saint Pius X room three’s movie. Our film was called ‘three words’ it was dark and everyone was watching. Everyone clapped loudly at the end of our movie.

My favorite film was room three’s three words
because I was in that film, and I appeared in it three times.

Sportsmanship

To be a sportsman you should be honest  and don't break the rules.
When you are playing everyone should be helpful and not to cheat.
To show sportsmanship you should supportive each other and don't hurt anyone. We can show sportsmanship by been friendly and not to fight in the game.

Duffy and the best book in the world

On Friday the whole school went to the hall to watch Duffy and the best book in the world. They came to Saint Pius to show us that reading is fun and it is always good to read.

My favorite part  was when Scruffy wanted to play rugby with his brother Duffy but Duffy did not want to play. Duffy wanted to read so Scruffy said that Wiripepu is outside but he said it wrong it was Piri Weepu.

My Weird Neighbour

Beginning
In the middle of the night I was asleep then suddenly I hear some music coming from my Neighbour they were having a party in the middle of the night.

Middle
I got up and shout “can you please turn down that music”! but they didn’t hear me. I went inside and I can still hear that song so I got my pillow and cover my ears. Then I thought that the party was finish and I ran outside to just see if it was finish. There were still people there but at seem like it over. I got inside the house and there were random people in the house they were singing, dancing, and eating. After that I was looking for the keeper of the house then I saw him I ask him “please can you have your party in the daytime because I am trying to go to sleep”?. Then the man said “ok” and they start to pack up their stuff and everyone went back home. I can finally have a sleep but it was only three minutes then day times so I harry inside to go and have a little sleep. When it  was daytime I can hear the party is on. I said to myself “oh no why did I even told that men to have his party this morning”.

Ending
After that the party was over everyone was gone and I went inside to have a sleep.

The Rosary

This is a rosary that I have painted on RE I have learned about it on RE too and a rosary is not a thing that we play with. It is a rosary that you pray with at church and it keeps you safe where ever you go. The 10 beans means the hail Mary five times and then the one beans means the our father and the area where the cross,is the three beans at the bottom is the hail Mary and the our father and then the Glory be.

Hi today is my first day using this link I just made a london 2012 olympics mascots. I enjoyed making these two mascots. I can't wait for the next activity and it is so easy to do.

Smart Learner

Term 3 Reflection

Being a successful learner involves you being reflective about the learning process. It is about you identifying your strengths, weaknesses and areas you would like to improve in. Reflection just does not happen at the end of a task, it can be throughout a task.

1. Are you pleased with how this term has gone for you? Yes because I learned my times tables and I am kind of good it at not like last time.

2. What have you learnt this term?  This term in maths I learned my 3D shapes with my group in math.

3. What have you found easy this term? I found the thing that is easy was my maths because we have to learn our 3D shapes and yes it was easy.

4. What have you found tricky / difficult this term? The thing that was difficult was when we have to answer the questions on writing time because we have to write it in full sentence but before did not write it in full sentence.  

5. Who  / what has helped you with your learning this term? Miss G and Ana helped me with my writing some time went I don’t know to do and to write.

6. What could you change with your learning for next term? I could listen to Miss G and try to finish my work in time.

7. What are your next learning steps to make you a successful learner for next term? Next term I am going to try and do better on my writing and so I can finish in time.

Rio de Janeiro Presentation

Kids for Kids concert

On a cool night room three and Miss G with Miss McLoughlin went to the Kids for Kids Concert at Manukau, but we got dropped off from our mum’s and dad’s.

When we got dropped off we went to this little room where all of the kids that were in kids for kids played. Rachel and I with some other girls were playing kucklebones, we had lots of fun there but then Dina said “we only have 10 minutes” we started to get ready but I was nervous.

We did a little bit of warm up following Dina and listened to what she said. After that we had to go to our line that we were put in. I was a bit shy. After that Dina went to say a few words to the Audience.

We had to sing our first song, I was really happy because our first song was a good start. Next we had to sing the other songs that we learnt.

After that we had half time and ate a snack then we had to go back on stage. We had four more songs to go and then we were done. We sang all our songs and then Miss G had to lead us to our mum’s and dad’s.

I went home with my friend Rachel. I was proud of myself and it was a lovely night and fun too. We were all happy and we did alright with our singing too on that night.

Music evening

On Thursday evening the whole school came to Saint Pius X musical evening. Everyone was invited to the hall to watch the school perform in front of the people. We began with the sign of the cross than we did a prayer from room 2 singing ‘God is love’. After that we have to say the sign of the cross in our own words.

After all the classes performing it was room three’s turn we sing ‘Puppet on a string’ first and then ‘Somewhere out there’. When we were singing ‘Puppet of a string’ I was nervous but I kept on looking at my mum so I don’t get nervous anymore.

It came to our other song, I was kind of happy to sing that song because sometimes it makes people cry. After all the class had performed in front of the people we sing the last song which was Sister Act’s song.

When we had done everything we went home ready for the next day of school.

Cross Country

On Friday 24 August, it was a bright and sunny day for St Pius X catholic school to have their cross country. The teachers were there to help the little ones to go the right way in their X country course. Parents were watching the little kids running, and cheering for them too. The 9 year olds were sitting up and cheering for them while we waited for their turn to go.

After the little kids cross country it was time for the big kids turn. We had to wait for our turn because it was from the 13 year old then the 12 year old and down from there. I was a bit sweaty went I was waiting for the 10 years olds turn.

When it came to the 10 year olds turn I was nervous, but luckily the boys went first then the girls. Miss G said to the boys “ready, go”, they ran and ran. Next up it was the girls turn and Miss G said “ready go”. I run as fast as I could and once I got down the hill I was puffing and I was tired. I saw the 10 year old boy walking and talking to each other so I just run past them. Even though I was tired I still tried to keep up with my age and ended up coming first.

When we had done our cross country course we had a little talk with our friends. After that Miss G said to us to say to ourselves “well done me” and we all did. Although I was tired of running I had a good day. The whole school did and what an awesome day we had from God, Fantastic.

Apple Description

The Granny Smith apple is so delicious and it is  green like the grass.

It looks oval and it is a circle too. The apple is crunchy like a potato chip. The Granny Smith apple smells nice and fresh, it feels hard and it is easy to hold. Granny Smith’s taste yummy and sweet and they are juicy.

The apple is from the supermarket and the fruit shop. Apples are used for juicing, desserts and fruit salads. It is also used for people to eat.

The apple is special because it is good for people. Everyone in room three likes the Granny Smith apple because they are nice to eat.

Fraction week 5

In maths time I had already know what is denominator and numerator.

My favourite thing about fraction is putting them in groups from biggest to smallest.

Fraction is a number that is not a whole number.

What is Anointing?

The Sacrament that have  anointing in them are baptism and healing of the sick. Special oil called chrism oil and holy water are used for anointing. During  anointing you are being welcomed and blessed by God.

   

Olympic torch

The flame is special because at every Olympic the flame is lit. People know that the Olympics is on when it is lit and when it is put out that means it is not on.

The flame is so pretty and amazing and when they light the flame it is so bright and shiny on the outside.The olympic flame is hot and the petals of the torch are hard too.

The 2012 olympic is at London at the stadium were all people can see the Torch.

The Olympic torch is only lit when the Olympics are on and the Olympics are only on every 4 years.

The Torch is a symbol of Olympics.

This week Room three is going to learn about sacrament and this is a picture of my own that I did in tux paint about sacrament. 

Net book Description

My netbook is so special to me because it helps me do my work in class time.

My learning tool is black and it has keys on it but it is not shiny on the outside. My mini netbook has no sounds but only if I turn on the sounds. My little netbook feels hard and kind of heavy too, it is smooth and slippery sometimes if I hold it with one hand.

My triple E pc is always at school every night in the C.O.W. but I can only take my triple E pc home one day in a week. In the day time I put my netbook in my tote tray.

My little netbook help me do my work in class and it get me to the internet so I could share my work with miss G.

My little triple E pc is used by hands and we have to be careful with our little triple E pc because sometime the keys fall off if you are rough with it.

Our learning tool is so special because we are some of the first students in New Zealand to use a learning tool for our work.

My netbook helps me do my work in class time so I have to take responsibility of it. It is important that you are careful when you are working on the netbook and take charge of our learning.
